Bersatunews Jakarta – Perusahaan pengembangan chatbot kecerdasan buatan (AI) ChatGPT dijadwalkan bangkrut. Setidaknya itu menurut sebuah analisis oleh Windows Central Media yang baru-baru ini dilaporkan oleh India Magazine.

Ada banyak hal yang membuat OpenAI berada dalam situasi yang memprihatinkan seperti kebangkrutan. Misalnya mengenai tingginya biaya operasional ChatGPT akibat perbedaan pendapat di dalam perusahaan. OpenAI diyakini menghabiskan US$700.000 (sekitar Rs. 107 miliar) per hari untuk menjalankan AI chatbot ChatGPT.

Angka tersebut kabarnya belum termasuk biaya pembelian GPU untuk memastikan ChatGPT berjalan lancar. Seperti disebutkan sebelumnya ChatGPT ditenagai oleh infrastruktur milik Microsoft atau mesin kecerdasan buatan (AI) Azure yang ditenagai oleh ribuan GPU yang diproduksi oleh Nvidia.

OpenAI juga dilaporkan menghabiskan lebih banyak uang untuk membuat model bahasa yang dikembangkan oleh perusahaan seperti GPT-3.5 di ChatGPT lebih bertenaga dan lebih cerdas. Soalnya sejak OpenAI diluncurkan dilaporkan merugi $540 juta atau sekitar Rp 826 triliun sejak peluncuran ChatGPT pada November 2022.

OpenAI sebenarnya sudah mendapatkan beberapa investasi salah satunya Microsoft. . Pada Februari 2023 kedua perusahaan semakin memperkuat kolaborasi mereka dengan menginvestasikan $10 miliar (sekitar Rs. 151 triliun). Namun dana investor ini tidak berkelanjutan karena dapat ditahan.

OpenAI mencoba memonetisasi model bahasa GPT-3.5 (digunakan oleh ChatGPT) dan GPT-4. Namun upaya ini belum menghasilkan pendapatan yang cukup untuk mencapai titik impas. Kesengsaraan finansial ini adalah salah satu alasan analis memprediksi kebangkrutan OpenAI yang akan segera terjadi.

Dipimpin oleh CEO Sam Altman perusahaan ini bertujuan untuk mencapai pendapatan tahunan sebesar US$200 juta (sekitar Rp3 triliun) pada tahun 2023 dan pendapatan tahunan sebesar US$1 miliar (sekitar Rp153 triliun) pada tahun 2024 dan angka ini terus meningkat dari hari ke hari.

Setelah populer di awal tahun 2023 ChatGPT kini mengalami penurunan jumlah pengguna. Menurut situs web yang sama basis pengguna Chat GPT menurun 12% pada Juli 2023 dari 17 miliar pengguna menjadi 15 miliar pengguna pada Juni 2023.

Penurunan ini berlaku untuk pengguna yang menggunakan chatbot AI ChatGPT di situs web kecuali untuk OpenAI API (Application Programming Interface). Analis melihat API OpenAI memiliki potensi untuk mendorong OpenAI. Ini karena OpenAI API menyediakan sejumlah contoh open source dari Large Language (LLM) yang dapat digunakan secara bebas dan direproduksi tanpa izin.

Ini memungkinkan perusahaan membuat chatbot AI mereka sendiri yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan mereka. Dengan demikian pengguna mungkin ragu untuk memilih versi berbayar dari chatbot AI ChatGPT yang disediakan oleh OpenAI. Hal ini akan menyulitkan OpenAI untuk terus membukukan pendapatan.

Perspektif yang berbeda adalah salah satu faktor yang dapat membawa perusahaan ke jurang kebangkrutan. Perspektif yang berbeda di dapur OpenAI. Tetapi bagi Sam Altman segalanya tampak berbeda. Pendiri sekaligus CEO OpenAI ini disebut tidak mengutamakan keuntungan. Sam Altman disebut-sebut lebih fokus untuk mencapai superintelligence Artificial Intelligence (AGI) atau sekadar teknologi AI manusia super yang dirangkum dari Windows Central Sabtu (19/8/2023) KompasTekno.

Analis di The India Magazine percaya bahwa jika OpenAI tidak perlu menemukan cara untuk memanfaatkan faktor-faktor yang disebutkan di atas untuk menghasilkan keuntungan jangka pendek maka OpenAI bisa mendapat masalah.
