Usai mengukuhkan kiprah Indonesia di Piala Asia pelatih Shin mengantarkan Timnas U-19 Indonesia lolos ke Piala Asia U-20 2023. Ini menjadi pelipur lara setelah kegagalan di Piala AFF U-19. 19 Agustus 2022.

Indonesia 2021 (2022) Piala Asia U-23 gagal STY saat kalah dua kali dari Tajikistan di Australia. Kegagalan tersebut disebabkan China dan Brunei Darussalam mundur dari babak kualifikasi dan pada tahun 2021 Shin Taiyong gagal mempersembahkan medali emas di SEA Games 2021 (2022). Timnas U-23 baru berhasil meraih medali perunggu setelah kalah dari Thailand di babak semifinal namun kedua kekalahan tersebut kini harus dibayar dengan lolos ke kualifikasi pertama U-23 Piala Asia U-23 2024.
